Victoria University Sydney Adopts Bangladeshi-Built SaaS to Replace Excel

Sydney, Australia – In a proud moment for Bangladesh, Ornob Barua, a student at Victoria University Sydney, has developed a software application that is officially replacing Microsoft Excel for the university’s staff rostering operations.

The application, built under his newly founded software brand Avocadoo, marks his first venture into SaaS (Software as a Service). The university has approved his project, which is currently in its trial-and-error phase and expected to be used long-term.

This innovative tool not only streamlines the scheduling process for Victoria University Sydney but also symbolizes a significant milestone for Ornob, who is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology, majoring in Web/Software Development and minoring in Network Management.

It’s a surreal experience to build a software solution for my own university, To think that something I created will replace Microsoft Excel—used for decades globally—is truly an honor.

, said Ornob.

A unique touch of pride? The app footer will feature the Bangladeshi flag, symbolizing the country’s growing presence in global tech innovation.

With Avocadoo, Ornob aims to expand globally, building more software solutions that challenge traditional tools and improve institutional efficiency.
