A team of university students in Bangladesh has developed Lifeline, a mobile application designed to simplify the process of finding blood donors. Unlike traditional methods that rely on spreadsheets or social media posts, Lifeline provides a real-time map-based interface, allowing users to locate nearby donors instantly—much like Uber or Google Maps.
The app offers several advanced features to enhance the blood donation process. Users can search for donors based on blood type and location, making the process more efficient and faster. Donors can also track their donation history, helping them stay informed about their past contributions. Additionally, the app includes an emergency alert system that notifies nearby donors instantly when urgent blood donations are needed. With its user-friendly interface, Lifeline ensures a seamless experience for both donors and recipients.
Developed by a talented group of students from different universities, the team behind Lifeline includes Shihab Sikder and Adib Abrar Kabeer from the Islamic University of Technology (IUT) handling administration and logistics, Tashdid Bin Wahid from Daffodil International University (DIU) managing UI/UX design and architecture, and Muztahid Rahman from BRAC University along with Md Kaif Ibn Zaman from Jahangirnagar University (JU) leading the app development.
As their first public-facing project, the team aims to revolutionize blood donation in Bangladesh by making the donor-recipient connection seamless and efficient. By leveraging technology, Lifeline offers a smarter and more effective way to save lives. The app is now available for download, bringing hope to those in need of urgent blood donations.
