Bangladesh’s ‘Team EcoRangers’ has achieved a remarkable milestone, securing a spot among the top 40 global finalists in the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024. Competing against 15,444 teams from 163 countries, this victory showcases the growing prominence of Bangladeshi talent on the global stage.
This year’s competition, the largest in NASA’s history, drew participants from diverse fields and ages across 30 unique categories. Notably, two other Bangladeshi teams, ‘Team Urban Utopians’ and ‘Team Geowizards,’ earned recognition in the ‘Global Honorable Mention’ category, highlighting the nation’s collective brilliance.
Organized locally by the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) for the 11th year, the event spanned nine cities, including Dhaka, Chattogram, and Rajshahi. BASIS President M Rashidul Hasan lauded the achievement, saying, “The success of our teams at NASA Space Apps Challenge reflects the immense potential of Bangladesh in the ICT sector. I am confident this year we can make our nation proud once again.”
Bangladesh has an illustrious history in the competition, having claimed the global championship four times. With NASA scientists set to announce the final winners in January 2025, hopes are high for another groundbreaking victory.
