Team Ababil from the Aviation and Aerospace University, Bangladesh, has made history by securing the 6th position globally in the selection phase of the prestigious CanSat Competition 2025, organized by the American Astronautical Society and NASA. With an outstanding score of 98.2%, they ranked among the top 65 teams worldwide, earning a coveted spot in the final round.
The competition saw participation from leading institutions across the globe, with only 40 teams selected for the finals — 20 from the USA and 20 from other countries. Team Ababil will represent Bangladesh at the launch week, scheduled for June 5–9, 2025, in Monterey, Virginia, USA.
The team’s project involved designing a Can-sized satellite capable of collecting environmental data through advanced sensors, establishing seamless ground station communication, and deploying a parachute with an autogyro descent mechanism. This innovative design showcased their exceptional engineering skills and placed them among the best teams worldwide.
Team Ababil has already received an official invitation from the American Astronautical Society to attend the launch week. This achievement not only highlights Bangladesh’s growing talent in aerospace engineering but also paves the way for future innovations in the field.
With this milestone, the team is actively seeking sponsorship to support their participation in the final phase of the competition. Featuring this news and amplifying their story can help them secure the necessary resources to represent Bangladesh on a global stage.
