Seventeen years ago, a tragic event in Mymensingh shook Bangladesh—a family of nine members took their own lives. Drawing inspiration from this heart-wrenching event, director Vicky Zahed has brought the mystery to life in his new series Chokro, which premiered yesterday on the OTT platform iScreen.
Vicky Zahed shared his thoughts on the series: “This is my first and probably my last serial. It’s based on a true story, one that’s incredibly bizarre and naturally sparks curiosity. We did our research and recreated the mystery on screen. For fans of the mystery genre, it’s a must-watch.”
The journey to creating Chokro was filled with challenges. Vicky explained, “The idea was conceived three years ago, and we started filming two and a half years ago. But strange, unexplainable obstacles kept halting our progress. Shootings were repeatedly postponed, and we experienced personal losses within the crew. Tragically, our cinematographer Zahid Hossain and line producer Masudul Mahmud Rohan passed away, along with two other team members.”
Despite these hardships, Chokro is now available, with the first five episodes free to watch. The lead roles are played by Tousif Mahbub and Tasnia Farin, and the series promises an intense 20-episode mystery that is sure to captivate audiences.
