Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus has inaugurated the Probashi Lounge at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, a special space dedicated to supporting Bangladeshi migrant workers as they travel. Speaking at the event, Prof. Yunus highlighted the vital contributions of migrant workers, calling them “nation builders” for their role in both the economy and the country’s progress.
“We believe this lounge will make their travel easier,” he said, emphasizing gratitude for their contributions.
The Probashi Lounge, a first-of-its-kind facility at Dhaka Airport, provides a comfortable resting area and access to affordable food options for migrant workers. Law and Expatriate Welfare Adviser Prof. Asif Nazrul, along with senior officials from the International Organization for Migration (IOM), were also present, paying tribute to the sacrifices of migrant workers and the diaspora community.
The IOM, in partnership with the government, has funded the lounge and is sponsoring 100 volunteers to assist the migrants at the airport, according to Fathima Nusrath Ghazzali, deputy chief of the IOM mission in Bangladesh.
