The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2024-25 season will conclude with a grand final on February 7 at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. However, unlike previous years, the closing ceremony will be a quieter, more eco-friendly affair, as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has decided to forgo fireworks in favor of a laser show.
This decision aligns with BCB’s commitment to environmental sustainability, following governmental guidelines to reduce carbon emissions and promote climate awareness. While the tournament’s opening ceremony featured a vibrant concert and fireworks display, the final will focus on responsible celebrations without compromising fan experience.
Initially, BCB planned to include a 500-drone display as part of the final’s attractions. However, due to high costs, this plan was abandoned, leaving the laser show as the primary post-match entertainment.
As the season wraps up, defending champions Fortune Barishal await their challenger, to be decided in the Second Qualifier between Khulna Tigers and Chattogram Challengers. The title clash promises intense cricketing action, even if it lacks the usual grandeur of fireworks and elaborate festivities.
This shift marks a step towards a more sustainable model for sports events, blending entertainment with environmental responsibility. While the BPL final may feel different this year, the thrill of the game remains unchanged.
