Md. Nazmul Arefin, a Bangladeshi PhD researcher at the University of Alberta, has achieved an extraordinary milestone by winning the Killam Award, one of Canada’s most prestigious academic honors. The Killam Award, officially known as the “Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Scholarship,” is presented to exceptional scholars across four Canadian universities for their outstanding contributions to research and education. Beyond the monetary prize, recipients gain access to the exclusive Killam Laureates network, a globally recognized honor.
Nazmul was formally honored on October 23 at a ceremony attended by the University of Alberta’s President and Vice-Chancellor. His achievement highlights the excellence of Bangladeshi researchers on the world stage.
