Chittagong University Graduate Mohaimin Iqbal Secures Jobs at Meta and Microsoft

Gazi Mohaimin Iqbal, a graduate of Chittagong University’s Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) department, has achieved a remarkable milestone in his career. He has received job offers as a software engineer from two of the world’s leading tech companies—Meta and Microsoft.

Mohaimin completed his undergraduate studies in the 2016–17 academic session and later moved to the United States for higher education. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree at San Jose State University. After undergoing multiple assessment rounds over the past few months, both Meta and Microsoft selected him for the prestigious roles. He is set to join Meta on February 18.

Hailing from Chattogram’s Chowdhuryhat area in South Pahartali Ward No. 1, Mohaimin credits his elder brother, Yamin Iqbal, for inspiring his interest in programming. Yamin, a former student of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET), is currently working at Google. Following in his brother’s footsteps, Mohaimin actively participated in programming contests, often spending his university days solving coding problems with friends. His passion and dedication led him to excel in inter-university programming competitions, securing top positions multiple times.

Expressing his excitement, Mohaimin said,

Receiving offers from Meta and Microsoft is an incredible honor. I look forward to working with some of the brightest engineers and growing my skills. I am also proud to represent Bangladesh on this global platform.

He shared insights into his job application process, stating that Meta’s hiring included an online assessment with four coding problems, followed by three rounds of technical interviews. A similar rigorous process was followed by Microsoft.

Mohaimin aspires to see Bangladesh emerge as a global tech leader. “One day, I hope we will have our own tech giants that the world will recognize and admire,” he added. Encouraging young talents, he advised, “Find something you truly love and work relentlessly to master it.”
