Meta has initiated another round of layoffs, this time targeting specific teams across its platforms, including WhatsApp, Instagram, and Reality Labs. These layoffs, part of a broader reorganization effort, are more focused than the mass cuts seen in previous years.
Several employees, like Jane Manchun Wong, who worked with the Threads team, have publicly shared news of their job loss. Meta’s spokesperson, Dave Arnold, stated that these changes are aimed at aligning resources with the company’s long-term goals and global location strategy. While some employees are being relocated or reassigned, those whose roles are being eliminated are being supported in finding other opportunities within the company.
This follows earlier job cuts in Meta’s Reality Labs division and the larger layoffs of 2022 and 2023, part of CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s “year of efficiency” plan.
