To streamline services for Bangladeshi pilgrims during Hajj 2025, the government will introduce dedicated Hajj Management Centres in Bangladesh, Makkah, and Madinah, along with a new mobile application designed to provide end-to-end assistance.
Religious Affairs Adviser AFM Khalid Hossain, in an exclusive interview with UNB, stated that these initiatives aim to deliver a smooth, secure, and stress-free pilgrimage experience. “Authorities in Dhaka will be able to monitor and support pilgrims in Saudi Arabia 24/7 through the app,” he said.
The mobile app will offer key features including:
- Lost luggage tracking via electronic chips
- Real-time travel and ritual guidance in Bangla
- Medical consultation and emergency assistance
- A hotline for instant communication
- A feedback portal for suggestions and concerns
The app will also include reminders for daily prayers and information about significant Islamic sites, ensuring pilgrims stay spiritually guided and informed throughout their journey.
The Hajj Management Centres will operate from the Ashkona Hajj Office in Dhaka and from Bangladesh’s Hajj offices in Makkah and Madinah. The app, alongside a roaming package and Hajj pre-paid debit card service, will be inaugurated by Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on April 20.
In a significant move towards a cashless system, each pilgrim will receive a reloadable debit card, usable in Saudi Arabia. Additionally, an affordable mobile roaming package will allow pilgrims to use their Bangladeshi SIM cards without needing new ones abroad.
This year, 92,300 Bangladeshis are expected to perform Hajj, with 5,200 under government management and 87,100 through private agencies. Hajj flights will begin on April 29, and the holy Hajj is likely to take place on June 5, pending moon sighting.
Officials at the Ministry of Religious Affairs emphasize that these services are designed to ensure the journey remains spiritually focused and free from logistical concerns.
