Debjyoti Das Soumya

Debjyoti Das Soumya, a 12th-grade student at Jalalabad Cantonment Public School and College, has achieved an extraordinary milestone by securing admission to the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) under Early Action. This marks a historic achievement for Bangladesh, celebrating Soumya’s brilliance and relentless dedication.

Soumya’s journey to this success began in 7th grade, inspired by his elder brother to pursue competitive programming. By 15, he had already become the youngest Bangladeshi Grandmaster on Codeforces, cementing his place as a rising star in the global programming community.

His crowning achievement came at this year’s International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), where he won a gold medal and ranked 30th globally—the highest rank ever achieved by a Bangladeshi participant. This milestone followed years of consistent success: a bronze medal and 126th global rank in 2022, followed by a silver medal in 2023. Soumya’s determination and growth exemplify his dedication to excellence.

Set to begin his undergraduate studies at MIT in August 2025, Soumya will embark on this new journey shortly after completing his HSC exams. His story inspires countless young minds in Bangladesh and serves as a beacon of hope and determination for aspiring programmers.
