The 2025 QS World University Rankings by Subject have highlighted the global standing of three Bangladeshi universities — Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka University (DU), and North South University (NSU) — placing them among the world’s top 550 institutions.
In the Engineering & Technology category, BUET ranked 320th, while DU secured a position in the 401-450 range. DU also ranked 401-450 in Social Sciences & Management, with NSU following in the 501-550 range. Additionally, DU achieved a 501-550 ranking in Arts & Humanities.
However, no Bangladeshi university appeared in the rankings for Life Sciences & Medicine or Natural Sciences. The QS rankings assess institutions based on several key factors, including academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations, the H-index, and international research networks.
Since 2010, QS has independently published university rankings, earning a reputation as one of the most reliable global ranking systems. These rankings serve as a valuable benchmark for universities worldwide, reflecting their academic impact and global influence.
