A Bangladeshi engineer couple, Jubayer Hossain and Sumaiya Tasnim, have addressed a common concern for plant lovers—watering plants during extended periods away from home. Drawing from their own experiences, they developed an innovative device called the Smart Watering Device under their company, BongoTech.
Launched on November 20, 2024, this device has already garnered significant interest both locally and internationally. It operates by automatically watering plants at scheduled intervals, ensuring precise water flow and volume. Users can control and customize the device through a dedicated mobile application, “Smart Watering System,” which allows them to manage schedules and monitor performance remotely via Wi-Fi.
Initially requiring a connection to water and electricity, the device supports watering multiple plants simultaneously through its output lines. This pioneering innovation is the first of its kind in Bangladesh, providing a cost-effective and user-friendly solution for plant care.
The creators hope to offer a seamless user experience and promote the production of advanced devices domestically. With growing demand from both local and global markets, the Smart Watering Device is a testament to the potential of Bangladeshi innovation in meeting practical needs with smart solutions.
