For the first time in Bangladesh, a 200km coastal ultra marathon took place along Cox’s Bazar’s scenic Marine Drive. The event, organized by volunteer group Coastal Ultra Bangladesh, aimed to promote sustainable tourism, coastal cleanliness, and marine ecosystem preservation.
The three-day-long marathon, which concluded on Saturday, February 22, saw participation from nearly 400 local and international runners across categories of 50km, 100km, 100 miles, and 200km.
ABM Siddikul Abedin was the first to cross the finish line, while Sifat Fahmida Eti became the first woman to complete the full 200km distance — a groundbreaking achievement for women’s sports in the country.
With 250 dedicated volunteers ensuring runner safety and logistical support, the event highlighted endurance, determination, and the power of community-driven initiatives.
This landmark race not only tested human limits but also spread awareness about responsible tourism and the importance of protecting Bangladesh’s coastal environment.
