The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) Film Bazaar, held annually as part of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), has become a pivotal platform for South Asian filmmakers to connect with international producers and distributors. This year, two Bangladeshi films, Roid and Divine Chords, have garnered attention by securing spots among 21 projects selected from seven countries.
Directed by Mejbaur Rahman Sumon, Roid tells the intriguing story of a man trapped in a perplexing relationship with a mentally unstable woman. The film is produced by Tanvir Hossain and Shimul Chandra Bishwas. On the other hand, Divine Chords, directed by Talat Ahmed, delves into the fleeting connection between a mechanic and a domestic worker, produced by Adnan Imtiaz Ahmed and Jonaki Bhattacharya.
These films join a distinguished group of projects that will be showcased at Film Bazaar, an event that has become a launching pad for films to secure international co-productions and festival invitations. The 18th edition of the market will take place from November 20 to 24 in Goa, during IFFI.
Since its inception in 2007, NFDC’s Film Bazaar has played a crucial role in elevating South Asian cinema on a global stage, and Bangladeshi filmmakers continue to make their mark in this prestigious event.
