Bangladesh proudly joins the 21st World Robot Olympiad 2024, one of the most prestigious global robotics competitions. This year’s event is being held in İzmir, Turkey, from November 28, with four outstanding Bangladeshi teams competing against the world’s best.

The teams—Mayer Doa Robotics, Cyber Squad, Change Makers, and Team Cyberwave—feature 12 talented participants representing different institutions across Bangladesh.

Meet the Teams:

  • Mayer Doa Robotics: Rakibul Islam (Dhaka Residential Model College), Anas Bin Azim (Adamjee Cantonment College), and S.M. Mohiuddin Sami (RAJUK Uttara Model College).
  • Cyber Squad: Afiya Humaira (Birshreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College), Omera Fidan (Feni Girls’ Cadet College), and Nuzhat Jahan (SOS Hermann Gmeiner College).
  • Change Makers: Ragib Yasir Rahman (Dhaka Residential Model College), Sadia Anjum Pushpo (Shahjalal University of Science and Technology), and B.M. Hamim (Govt. Madan Mohan College).

The Bangladeshi delegation is led by Munir Hasan and Maherul Azam Qureshi, with judges Sajjad Islam, Redwan Ferdous, and Sihab Sarar Ahmed representing Bangladesh in the international round.

This year, Bangladesh’s teams are competing in three segments: Future Engineers, Future Innovators, and Robo Sports. These teams were selected based on their performance at the national round, held in September at Southeast University.

Since becoming a member of the Olympiad in 2020, Bangladesh has made remarkable progress. Notable achievements include a bronze medal in 2022 and a fifth-place finish in 2023. This year, hopes are high for another stellar performance.

Munir Hasan shared his optimism, saying,

Bangladesh’s growth in robotics is inspiring. Competing in the World Robot Olympiad strengthens our foothold in global innovation.
