Team from BRAC University Wins Silver Medal at International IoT Olympiad 2025

A team of first-year undergraduate students from BRAC University, Bangladesh, has earned international acclaim by winning the Silver Medal in the “IoT in Agriculture – University Level” category at the International IoT Olympiad 2025, held in Indonesia.

Competing against over 75 teams worldwide, Team Automorph stood out by showcasing innovation and purpose through their project, AgriMorph — a smart agriculture system that leverages low-cost IoT technology to enhance farming practices. The system enables real-time environmental monitoring, automated irrigation, and crop health assessment, offering farmers a data-driven solution for sustainable agriculture.

The project directly supports several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)

  • SDG 2: Zero Hunger
  • SDG 13: Climate Action
  • SDG 15: Life on Land

By promoting precision farming and efficient resource use, AgriMorph aims to boost agricultural productivity and resilience in the face of climate change.

The award-winning team comprises:

  • Md. Ezhar Hossain (Team Leader)
  • Mirajam Munir
  • Fardin Ahmed

All three are first-year students from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at BRAC University. The project was developed under the mentorship of Dr. Mirza Rasheduzzaman, Associate Professor, whose guidance played a crucial role in shaping their success.

“This is truly a proud moment for us — to represent our country on a global stage and bring home a medal,” said team leader Md. Ezhar Hossain. “I’m incredibly thankful to my teammates for their dedication. Together, we turned an idea into something real and impactful.”

This achievement not only marks a significant milestone for BRAC University but also reflects Bangladesh’s growing potential in technological innovation and youth-led solutions to global challenges.
