In a moment of immense pride for Bangladesh, 12-year-old Hafez Anas Mahfuz claimed the first place in the Sigarul Huffaz group (8-12 years) at the 13th International Hifzul Quran Competition 2024. The event, organized by Kuwait’s Ministry of Religious Affairs, featured participants from 74 countries and was held at the Crowne Plaza, Kuwait.
The competition began on November 14, with the results announced on November 19. Anas, a student of Markazu Faizil Quran Al-Islami in Dhaka, has continued a tradition of excellence, following in the footsteps of his madrasa peers Muaz Mahmud and Saleh Ahmed Takreem, previous winners of the World Quran Competition.
Anas hails from Gopalganj and previously won third place in the National Hifzul Quran Competition (PHP Quran) in 2023. Adding to Bangladesh’s accolades, Qari Abu Zar Gifari secured third place in the Qerat group.
This victory reinforces the global recognition of Bangladesh’s remarkable talent in Quran recitation and memorization.
