10 Minute School Regains Canceled BDT 5 Crore Funding from Startup Bangladesh

Ten Minute School, a leading Bangladeshi edtech platform, has regained its BDT 5 crore investment from government-run venture capital firm Startup Bangladesh Limited. This decision, which had been previously stalled under the previous administration, has now been executed.

A senior official at Startup Bangladesh Limited, speaking on condition of anonymity, clarified, “The investment decision was never canceled but temporarily put on hold in July due to special circumstances. There’s no logical reason to withhold funding for such a promising startup, which is why the prior decision has been implemented.”

According to Ten Minute School founder Ayman Sadiq, “The funding of BDT 5 crore will be disbursed in two phases. The first installment of BDT 2.5 crore has already been released.”

Founded in 2015, Ten Minute School has gained widespread acclaim for its educational content on social media, both locally and internationally. The reinstated investment marks a significant milestone for the platform, which aims to further expand its impact on digital education.

The investment had been suspended in July 2024 due to Ayman Sadiq’s public support for the quota reform movement. At that time, State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak stated, “The government will take action against those opposing Bangladesh, the Liberation War, and the ideals of Bangabandhu.”

Despite this temporary setback, Startup Bangladesh Limited has been actively supporting startups, having approved investments of BDT 11.10 crore in the past six months. Of this, BDT 9.025 crore has already been disbursed to ventures including Ten Minute School, Sheba Platform Limited, ShareTrip, and ParentsCare Limited.

This renewed funding highlights the government’s commitment to nurturing promising startups and driving the country’s digital innovation landscape.
